FAQ’s
Do I have to meet with my Advisor every semester?
In most cases, the answer is yes. This is because you must meet or consult with your advisor about your proposed schedule for the upcoming semester. Once this has been reviewed by the student and advisor, the advisor provides a pin number that the student then uses to register for classes. This pin number is different each semester.
How do I make an appointment with my Advisor?
Make an appointment with your advisor through Learner 360 in Pirate Port.
How do I know which courses I need to take?
Found in Pirate Port, Degree Works is used to track degree completion. The Worksheets tab lists all the requirements for graduation. The Plans tab will have a graduation plan created by your advisor that shows class recommendations for the upcoming semester.
To view the suggested four-year plan or the required courses for your major, click on your degree program on our Academic Programs page.
How do I register for classes?
Registration and Planning in Pirate Port is the place to register for courses.
What can I do if my grades are not very good?
Talk to your professor. Also, ECU provides several resources to support student success. These resources include the Pirate Academic Success Center, The University Writing Center (UWC), and the Center for Counseling and Student Development (CCSD). Additional support with academic, personal, or social issues and concerns, assistance in adjusting to university life, and support in the event of a personal, medical or family emergency is offered through the Dean of Students. Students can reach the Dean of Students Office at 252-328-9297 or by visiting them in 125 Umstead Hall.
